And there we stood, Our two paths divided.

Ugh. It's a poem.

And there we stood, Our two paths divided.

And here we stand,

Our two paths divided,

Our lives separated by a simple stretch of grass.

I look behind at the road we traveled as one.

Flowers blossomed where we had walked,

Memorials to our happier days,

Each one representing every kiss, every laugh, every moment we spent together.

I want to run back,

Flee the inevitable severance of our two souls.

I want to smell the daisies and hear the bees buzz as they move from memory to memory.

But you stop me,

Pointing to the dark cloud I had forgotten.

It hovered above the field of daisies,

A silent threat to our past.

I remembered then of the storm that had nearly torn us apart.

It grew menacingly,

Ever ready to engulf us once more,

Take what was left of our lives.

You pull me into an embrace as tears stain both of our faces.

Warmth seeps from our bodies and our arms support one another.

I am your pillar as you are mine.

Both of us have been cracked by the lightening of the storm,

Its presence becoming stronger upon our minds.

And that is when I knew why we must go our different ways.

God only gives us mountains we can climb and distances we can cross.

He made two into one when he brought you to me

But now it is His will that we build ourselves once more.

No longer can we depend on the other for support.

Our souls have been parted and with it so does our love.

I mask my fears with a smile,

You do the same.

The time had come for us to leave our garden behind.

And there we stood,

Our two paths divided.

Wow! that was a very deep and inspirational poem to me! It was neatly thought out and well thought of. It's as if I just looked into that person's heart and that'a what I saw!
The only advice I can give you is....... Keep writing!

asheylee & nightfall: Thank you guys for that! I'm glad you enjoyed this poem. It was really inspired by one of my friends story so that is probably where most of the emotion came from. Thanks again for reading.

J.C. Belding: Thank you for reviewing! And I agree with you. It does sound a bit awkward as is. I will have to change that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Great job! Very nice imagery and wording. Just one tiny thing on your 6th to last line: you should change the does topast tenseto make the line sound more appropriate. Other than that you have a truly excellent poem. Well done!

I loved your poem because it had a really nice lesson in it. This is my favorite part:

And that is when I knew why we must go our different ways.

God only gives us mountains we can climb and distances we can cross.

Soooo cute! Great writing!

Wow! This was really REALLY good. I mean, this was just beautifully written. It told a story and ended with sorrow but it was as though they were meant to part some day...that was just a really great poem!

Well Done! :)

The only advise I can offer is that you keep writing!
